Donkeywell forge was commissioned by a private client to create a riverside inspired bridge to cross the river at the end of their garden which could be seen by passers-by travelling through the village. We incorporated a range of nature orientated ironwork details including forged bull rushes, fish, water ripples and butterflies. We also incorporated the client’s grandchildren’s hand drawn designs for various animals which we were able to create out of steel and display on and around the bridge. All ironwork was patinated in browns, greens and yellows to mimic the accurate colouration of each piece which really fit in well with its environment. We created an original sketch so that the client could see a conceptual design, as we wanted it to look as organic in shape as possible we arranged the forged shapes as we went along to see where they all fit best.
