Traditional Double Entrance Gates and Pedestrian Gates

Donkeywell forge was contacted by an international client interested in having a large set of traditional entrance gates and accompanying pedestrian gates commissioned. The client had been unable to find a traditional blacksmiths forge that could produce the traditionally made gates that they desired. They discovered our website and got in touch to arrange a visit to the forge to see our facilities and working processes and to discuss the design of the gates. Working closely with them throughout the design process we produced a number of designs for the clients consideration alongside 3D renders of the approved design. Without being able to visit site, we also had to work closely with the clients contractors who would be installing the gates, automation mechanisms and posts. Once a design was confirmed traditional methods of forging and construction were used to assemble the gates and scrollwork, the gates were made using the large jig table at our facilities. Once made the gates were flame zinc sprayed and then hand painted to allow as much of the steels texture to be visible whilst giving the gates full protection. The gates were then delivered to site and installed, both forge and client were thrilled with the final outcome.
