Balcony Railing Internal Forged Wrought Iron

When Pimlico Road Antiques Dealer and Furniture Designer, Christopher Howe, designed a modern country cottage conversion in Gloucestershire, he chose Donkeywell Forge to help him bring his rustic stair balustrade to life.

To create the curves and swoops in the handrail, we bent the steel on site to make sure it perfectly followed the lines of the staircase. We then left the wrought-iron handrail both unsealed and untreated to give it a naturally aged, rusted finish.

Finally, we combined the rail with a reclaimed cast-iron newel post.
